THEO
To Honor Each Other
Ages 6-10 (Children)
Objective: To foster understanding, empathy, and basic coping skills through playful and engaging activities.
-
Fostered Understanding: Through playful and engaging activities, children will develop a basic understanding of FASD and how it affects their sibling. This foundational knowledge will help them recognize that their sibling's behaviors are not intentional but are a result of the condition, leading to greater acceptance and patience.
-
Increased Empathy: The curriculum will encourage children to see things from their sibling’s perspective, fostering empathy and compassion. By participating in games and activities that highlight different experiences, children will learn to relate to and support their sibling with kindness and understanding.
-
Basic Coping Skills: Children will be introduced to simple coping techniques that help them manage their own emotions when faced with challenges related to their sibling’s condition. These skills will be taught through fun and interactive methods, ensuring that children can apply them in everyday situations to reduce stress and maintain a positive outlook.
-
Strengthened Sibling Bonds: Through activities designed to be both fun and educational, children will build stronger, more supportive relationships with their sibling. These activities will emphasize cooperation and understanding, helping siblings connect on a deeper level.
-
Empowered Expression: The program will empower children to express their feelings in healthy ways, whether they are feeling confused, frustrated, or concerned. By providing them with the tools to talk about their emotions, children will feel more secure and supported within their family, leading to a happier and more balanced home environment.
