Ages 15-17 (Teens)

Objective: To empower teens with advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and strategies for self-care and advocacy.

  • Advanced Knowledge: Teens will gain in-depth knowledge of FASD, equipping them with the understanding needed to navigate their sibling’s unique challenges with confidence. This advanced knowledge will enable them to provide more informed support within the family.

  • Leadership Skills: The curriculum will foster leadership skills, encouraging teens to take an active role in supporting their sibling and guiding younger family members. These skills will empower them to become positive role models, both within the family and in their broader communities.

  • Self-Care Strategies: Teens will learn effective self-care strategies that help them maintain their mental and emotional well-being. These strategies are essential for managing the stress and responsibilities that come with supporting a sibling with FASD, ensuring that they remain balanced and healthy.

  • Empowerment Through Advocacy: By developing strong advocacy skills, teens will be empowered to stand up for their own needs and the needs of their sibling. This empowerment will enable them to navigate complex situations with confidence, ensuring that both they and their sibling receive the support they deserve.

  • Stronger Family Dynamics: With advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and self-care practices, teens will be better equipped to contribute positively to the family dynamic. Their ability to advocate for themselves and their sibling, combined with their leadership and understanding, will help create a more supportive and cohesive family environment.​

Each week includes a live session, directed independent learning, a family activity, self-care practices, and reflection journaling.

Week 1

Understanding FASD and Family Dynamics

Intended Outcome: Teens gain a comprehensive understanding of FASD and its lifelong impact.
