THEO

To Honor Each Other
Ages 11-14 (Preteens)

Objective: To deepen their understanding of FASD, build resilience, and foster healthy relationships through interactive discussions and activities.

  • Deepened Understanding: Preteens will develop a more nuanced understanding of FASD and the specific challenges their sibling faces. This enhanced knowledge will help them approach situations with greater empathy and patience, reducing feelings of frustration and confusion.

  • Building Resilience: The curriculum will equip preteens with tools to build emotional resilience. They will learn how to manage their own stress and emotions, which will empower them to handle family dynamics more effectively and maintain their well-being during challenging times.

  • Fostering Healthy Relationships: Through interactive discussions and activities, preteens will develop better communication and problem-solving skills. These skills will enable them to build stronger, healthier relationships with their sibling and other family members, fostering a supportive and cohesive family environment.

  • Increased Empathy: As preteens gain a deeper understanding of FASD, they will naturally develop greater empathy for their sibling. This increased empathy will help them connect more meaningfully and support their sibling in a more compassionate and understanding way.

  • Empowerment: By engaging in activities focused on self-advocacy and self-care, preteens will be empowered to ensure their own needs are met while contributing positively to the family dynamic. This empowerment will lead to a more balanced and healthy environment for both themselves and their sibling.

Each week includes a live session, directed independent learning, a family activity, self-care practices, and reflection journaling.
